The best way to get to Trondheim is by plane. From Oslo it takes about 50 minutes by plane and there are around 30 flights every day. There are also direct flights to some European cities. If you choose to travel through Oslo you will need to take your luggage through the customs, re-check it and go through the airport security check again before you can board the plane to Trondheim. This can sometimes be time consuming.

Another (and maybe better) alternative is to choose a direct flight to Trondheim from any of these European cities:
Amsterdam (KLM),
Copenhagen (Wideroe/SAS),
Stockholm (Wideroe/SAS),
London-Stansted (Norwegian),
Nice (Norwegian),
Prague (Norwegian),
Malaga (Norwegian),
Norwegian also has other destinations.

Getting from the airport to down town Trondheim

Airport Bus: The airport bus costs NOK 80 and leaves from outside the domestic terminal. It takes about 30 minutes to get to down town Trondheim, and the drivers announce all the hotels.
Taxi:. There are two companies operating from the airport. A taxi from Stjørdal Taxi costs from NOK 510 for 1-4 persons. You can book ahead by contacting Stjørdal Taxi on phone +47 74 83 75 00 or e-mail post@stjordal-taxi.no. Trøndertaxi can take you to downtown Trondheim for NOK 295 per person if you book in advance. You will have to share the car with up to two other persons. Call +47 93 00 73 73 to book.

Train and bus from Oslo:

It is also possible to travel by train, but it takes about 8 hours from Oslo (www.nsb.no).
There are companies that offer cheap bus rides from Oslo, but it takes 8.5 hours. (www.lavprisexpressen.no)
