Social Program

The ICA Club will be open 18.30-24.00 each day during the congress. Here you can relax, chat with your new and old friends, and get a light meal and refreshments. On Sunday June 25 ICA Club will open at 16.00, when the registration desk opens at the Student Union Building.

A number of concerts will be held at the ICA Club, in Olavshallen Concert Hall, the Nidaros Cathedral and the Main Hall of NTH. For details see the cultural program.

Pre and post congress tours in Norway will be arranged. For details see the tour program.

A variety of other social activities and excursions for delegates and accompanying persons are listed below.

Reception - Monday 26 June 17.00 - 18.30
A reception will be held in the exhibition/poster area on the campus for all delegates and accompanying persons. Refreshments will be served.

Sightseeing in Trondheim - Tuesday 27 June 10:00 - 14:00
This tour includes a guided bus tour of the city center and residential areas, and a guided tour of the Nidaros Cathedral. The tour ends at the Sverresborg Folk Museum, where lunch will be served in the Tavern Restaurant, a charming inn dating from 1739.

Hiking in Bymarka - Tuesday 27 June 19:00 - 23:00
A natural wilderness within the city limits, Bymarka is a paradise for joggers, hikers and skiers. You and your fellow "hikers", accompanied by a guide, will follow an easy trail to an old mountain lodge, where dinner will be served. Transport both ways between the town center and the hiking area will be provided. Please wear strong and comfortable footwear, and perhaps a rain coat (check the weather forcast).

The mountain town of Røros - Wednesday 28 June 08:30 - 18:00
Røros is unique! This 350 year old town is situated 160 km south-east of Trondheim and takes its place with pride on UNESCO's World Heritage List. You will be forgiven for thinking you have stepped back many hundreds of years as you wander past the elegant wooden houses and tiny miners' cottages, and visit the eighteenth-century church which dominates this unspoilt mountain town. There will also be time for a visit to the mining museum. A rich variety of traditional Norwegian and lappish handicrafts can be found in the many little studios in the town. Lunch will be served. Travel by coach.

Boat trip to Munkholmen - Wednesday 28 June 19:00 - 22:30
We start with canal sightseeing before the boat takes you to the historic island of Munkholmen, just outside Trondheim. There shrimps and wine will be served. Once a monastery, the island became a prison after the Reformation. Nowadays it is a popular bathing spot.
