Postdoc (not ours but someone we know :) works in a lab
General academic situation in Norway, in particular the scarcity of positions and one of world’s highest costs of having a PhD student, make our up-front requirements to candidates ridiculously high. However, we can always consider an excellent candidate for a PhD or postdoc position in our group. Local and international scholarship programs are available every year. These opportunities are highly competitive and require an exceptional candidate in order to succeed. Our group will therefore only support a candidate with top academic grades and relevant education (for a PhD), or outstanding and highly relevant publication record (for a postdoc).

Our general requirements to a candidate for a PhD position are:
  • academic grade average equivalent to ≥(A+B)/2 on the ECTS grading scale, ≥4.6 on Russian grading scale, or GPA >3.6, and
  • education background that includes photonics, physics, or quantum mechanics (note: background only in classical information theory, computer science and security is not sufficient), and
  • willingness to work in both experiment and theory during the PhD, willingness to travel a lot if need arises.

Salary, general working conditions and life in Norway are very good.

Contacting us as early as possible is advisable. The entire process to the start of employment usually takes 6–10 months.
