Spoken Dialog Systems for Telephone Services
The project is a collaboration between three departments at NTNU
(Department of Telecommunications, Department of Informatics and
Computer Science, Department of Linguistics) and SINTEF Telecom and
Informatics. The project will have close ties with Telenor R&D, who
have their own research activities in this area, and will coordinate
activities and exchange resources and knowledge whenever
possible. Trafikanten MidtNorge will be involved from the user side in
the development of a prototype dialog system.
The project is intended to be divided into two parts. Part I contains
the part which is funded within the framework of the Norwegian
Research Council's
programme "Grunnleggende teleforskning"
("Basic telecom research").
Part II contains the remainder of the envisioned project. This part is
dependent upon additional funding and is not yet activated. It must
be emphasized that without Part II, the project goals of providing the
necessary tools and knowledge for the development of future spoken
dialog systems for the Norwegian language will only be partially
fulfilled, and that the activities within both parts are strongly
interlinked.
