How to Apply?

Master Students

If you want to become a master student please enroll as a regular or exchange student at NTNU. More information is given here.

Ph.D. Students

As a Ph.D. student you require funding. There are several ways to receive funding for Ph.D. studies.

Apply for an open position in one of my projects. Open positions (if any) are announced here.
Apply for an open position funded by the IET department. You find those openings (if any) advertised at the websites of the IET department.
Provide funding yourself. Note that even if you provide funding yourself you still have to fulfill the formal requirements for Ph.D. studies at NTNU which put certain restrictions on the grades you have received during your master studies.

In addition to funding you need to demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following fields: wireless communications, information theory, statistical physics, or applied mathematics. If you are distracted by mathematics, please consider a different supervisor.

When applying for an open position at NTNU, please note that the selection process is highly competitive and the number of applications exceeds the number of available positions by a large margin. The minimum formal requirement to apply is an average grade of 5 on a scale from 1 to 6. However, the succesful candidates typically come with average grades above 5.5.

Postdoctoral Fellows

As a post-doc you require funding. There are several ways to receive funding for post-doctoral research.

Apply for an open position in one of my projects. Open positions (if any) are announced here.

Provide funding yourself. If you need reference letters from me, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In addition to funding you need to have demonstrated excellence in at least one of the following fields: wireless communications, information theory, statistical physics, or applied mathematics by means of publications in renowned international journals or conferences. If you are distracted by mathematics, consider applying to somebody else.
